H. 31 cm Condition A LARGE GILT-BRONZE FIGURE OF BUDDHA SHAKYAMUNI, TIBET, late 15th ct., seated in vajrasana on a lotus base with his right hand lowered in bhumisparshamudra while the left is resting on his lap, wearing a diaphanous monk's robe leaving his right shoulder uncovered and a section draped over his left shoulder in the shape of a swallow-tail, its borders incised with a geometric and scrolling tendril design, his face displaying a serene expression with downcast eyes below arched eyebrows that continue into his nose-bridge, urna cavity originally set with a bead, smiling lips, pierced elongated earlobes, curled hair-dress and ushnisha topped with a lotus-bud, unsealed-Provenance: Old European private collection, by repute purchased in the 1970's-Minor wear, slightly chipped
