Footnote: The present lot is by family tradition believed to have been copied by the artist from the prime original still at Florence Court, Enniskillen, County Fermanagh. The sitter was the son of John Willoughby Cole, 2nd Earl of Enniskillen (see lot 154) and Lady Charlotte Paget. He held the office of Member of Parliament for Enniskillen between 1844 and 1851 and Fermanagh between 1855 and 1880. He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the 7th Hussars and in the 12th Foot.
