Tang Dynasty, 618-907 AD. A buff ceramic figure modelled in the round as a priest standing on a square plinth, robed, hands held within his sleeves and held together in front of his body, shoes emerging from the hem of his robe, detailing to his clothes and face; Chinese characters painted on the base. 190 grams, 16.5cm (6 1/2"). From a Sussex gallery; ex Bonhams Asian Art, 28 July 2020, lot 85; previously from the Professor Conrad Harris collection of early Chinese art, formed in the late 1990s-early 2000s; accompanied by an Ancient Times certificate of authenticity and a previous cataloguing page.
