13th-15th century AD. An iron axehead with curved blade, swept rear edge, straight upper edge, circular socket, rounded to the rear. Property of a London gallery; previously from a private British collection; formerly acquired from a European gentleman; acquired in the 1990s and earlier. The axe belongs to the type Vd of the Nadolski classification, well attested in Hungary, Poland and Central Europe between the 13th and the 15th centuries. Condition Report Fair condition, cleaned and conserved.
