Description
Translation provided by Youdao
14th-10th century BC. A heavy spearhead with a long tapering blade and curved shoulders, short tang, fitted with two rivets at the base of the blade. See Khorasani M.M., Arms and Armour from Iran. The Bronze Age to the End of the Qajar Period, Tübingen, 2006, item 274, for type. 445 grams, 60cm (23 1/2"). Ex David Miller, and in the collections of Maurice Braham and Lord Alistair MacAlpine, from the 1980-1990s. Similar heavy spearheads were excavated by Dr. Negahban in tomb 12, trench XIIE of the Marlik Necropolis. The characteristic feature of this type is that they have long blades and short tangs. Negahban suggested that they could be used as spearheads, lances or even swords since the handles are missing. Condition Report Fine condition.
