Early 1st millennium BC. A bronze long foliate pointed blade with short pierced tang, the mid-rib formed of multiple grooves. See a similar sword in Christie's, The Axel Guttmann Collection of Ancient Arms and Armour, part 2, London, 2004, fig.36, p.40. 455 grams, 51.5cm (20 1/4"). Property of a London gallery; previously in a private UK collection formed 1980s-1990s. The metalworking techniques used in making bronze weapons in Luristan were very complex. Surfaces were often finished in repoussé work and some of the weapons were chased, others engraved. Condition Report Fine condition.
