4th millennium BC-12th century BC. A mixed group of knives and daggers comprising: two with single-edge curved blade, hole in the handle for the attachment of an organic hilt; a triangular dagger with rounded shoulders and a single rivet for the attachment of a handle. See a similar Bronze Age dagger in Marzatico, F. and Gleirscher, P. (ed.), Guerrieri Principi ed Eroi fra il Danubio e il Po dalla Preistoria all'Alto Medioevo, 2004, pp.109, fig.11. 545 grams total, 17-21cm (6 3/4 - 8 1/4"). Property of a London gallery; previously in a private UK collection; acquired in Europe in the 1980s. The dagger with single rivet finds comparisons with similar types in copper from Northern Italy, dating to the Neolithic period. The other two knives have parallels on an example from Burg, Deutschlandsberg Museum near Leibnitz, dating to the Urnfield Period. [3, No Reserve] Condition Report Fine condition.
