11th-12th century AD. A group of two Anglo-Scandinavian bronze stirrup strap mounts, each sub-triangular in plan with two convex sides, and a ledge to the bottom edge, a howling rampant beast advancing left in relief to each front face: one with remains of detailing to the body of the animal, two rivet holes below; one with remains of rivets in rivet holes. Cf. The Portable Antiquities Scheme Database, id. LEIC-380C35 and LEIC-0A2543, for similar. 40.4 grams total, 31-37mm (1 1/4 - 1 1/2"). Found whilst searching with a metal detector in Leicestershire, UK, by Robert Ward. Williams class A type 11A. [2, No Reserve] Condition Report Fair condition, apexes absent.
