Orchid, 1979 Ink and color on paper, now mounted for framing, titled zhi lan bing xiu, inscribed and dated liushiba nian xia yue (1979, summer) dedicated to Fangyu, signed Daqian Jushi and with three artist's seals reading jiwei, Zhang Yuan, and Daqian Jushi. 14 x 11 1/4in (35.5 x 28.5cm) 注脚 The dedication to "Fangyu" likely refers to Wang Fangyu 王方宇 (1913-1997), the noted art collector, calligrapher, professor of Chinese language at Yale University, and premier scholar on the art of the painter Bada Shanren (1626-1705).
