Silla Kingdom style, 19th/20th century The future Buddha wearing a simple necklace, his gentle face in a meditative expression, framed by a tri-fold crown, and seated on a platform supported by a lotus pedestal, with his right leg crossing over his left knee, his arms comfortably resting on the crossing leg, with the right hand raised near his right cheek, his lower body covered by a tasseled drape with realistically rendered folds, the back incised with a indecipherable maker's mark to the lower right. 9 3/4in (24.7cm) high 注脚 The present statue appears to be inspired by a group of important Buddhist sculptures believed to be made during the Silla Kingdom in the late 6th and early 7th century. This group of statues all share very similar characteristics, including the elegant contemplative pose, slip bodies, plain necklace and tri-fold crowns, and realistically rendered draperies. Some presented with the figure's right hand touching his right cheek, some with the hand raised near the cheek. The most well know gilt-bronze statue is the Maitreya in Meditation, frequently referred to as pan'gasayusang housed in the National Museum of Korea, which measures 3 feet and one inch, or 93 centimeters in height.
