Tang Dynasty, 618-907 AD. A large ceramic horse modelled in the round standing on a polygonal base with right foreleg held aloft, head turned left and looking to the rear; finely-modelled naturalistic anatomical detailing with dressed mane and tail, detailing to the saddle and harness with knops, bells and pendants; remains of polychrome pigments. Cf. The Metropolitan Meum, accession number 67.62.2, for similar. 8.45 kg, 53cm wide (21"). West Country collection, 1990s. Apanied by a positive thermoluminescence report no.33CM180321 issued by Laboratory Kotalla. This lot has been checked against the Interpol Database of stolen works of art and is apanied by AIAD certificate number no.11125-185004.
