An iron bearded axehead formed with convex blade widening to a broad bevelled edge with square chin with spur to the rear, socket with lozengiform flanges and elongated rectangular butt. 831 grams, 18.5cm (7 1/4"). Property of a London binessman, from his grandfather's collection formed after World War II; thence by descent 1972. Apanied by a positive metal test report from an Oxford specialist with reference number TLA1/HM1427. [No Reserve]
