Later 16th century AD. An elaborate gold finger ringprising a D-section hoop with openwork foliate loops and curls to the shoulders, octofoil bezel with inset facetted diamonds to the upper face and central keeled aquamarine cabochon; to the underside, eight radiating lobes and a small central, facetted diamond. Private collection of a North London lady before 2000. Property of a London gentleman. Apanied by scholarly note TL05411 by Dr Ronald Bonewitz. This lot has been checked against the Interpol Database of stolen works of art and is apanied by AIAD certificate number no.11046-184184. The ring features a splendid example of a natural aquamarine of blue-turquoise hue cut into a keeled dome.
