Late 19th-early 20th century AD. A large onyx cameo gemstone with a figural sceneposed of robed male and female figures, apparently a family gathering, in raised relief; the body of the cameo is roughly rectangular in plan with a shallow V-section cutting across the stone at an angle, so that it does not lie flat. 59.6 grams, 52mm high (2"). Acquired in the late 1980s-early 1990s. Important North West London collection.
