The character "" or "dui4" (pinyin) literally means "right" or "correct," or a pair, or toward something and is often used that way, but it is most commonly used in a way similar to the way English speakers say "yes," or "yeah." Another possible explanation of dui character is - it should not have any meaning toward scholar's study or studio, but contains a meaning of the potter or a collector, for them to record something or remember something.
