A Chinese Green and Auburn Glazed Tripod CenserTang DynastyThe bulbous bodied censer rises from three feet to an everted mouth rim below which are two molded bands, the body covered overall with a white slip and applied with a transparent glaze and vibrant green splashes, the green glaze pouring over the mouth rim and dripping down into the cavity of the bowl, the balance of which remains unglazed, the green glaze stopping at the three feet which are covered with an auburn glaze that also covers the entire base, leaving only the bottom of the feet exposing the darkish brown-red clay. Height 5 1/2 inches.
