BronzeIndia 16th centuryDimensions: Height 50 cm ; Wide 15 cm ; Depth 15 cmWeight: 8724 gramsThe Mother Goddess is standing on a high round plinth which is decorated by bird-like creatures and the surface incised with delicate floral patterns. She is holding her small child on her arm while the other hand is lifted in front of her hip. Possibly she was holding something in her hand. Her right foot is casually crossed over her left shin, supporting herself on her toes. She is dressed in beautiful garments decorated with patterns of dots and lines and also the child's clothes are decorated. She is adorned with elaborate jewellery on her chest, arms and head. Her eyes are big and wide open, her nose long and distinct and her chin protrudes from the face. In the back we see that the strand of her long hair is a serpent.
