AN ASSOCIATED PAIR OF PAINTED ENAMEL 'DRAGON' DISHES18th/19th centuryEach with a central medallion enclosing a frontal view of a five-clawed dragon amidst multi-colouredruyi clouds, bordered by five pink bats between lotus scroll on a yellow ground, the exterior with three dragons in mutual pursuits, the back painted with a blue phoenix on a white ground.21.8cm (8 3/8in) diam. (2).For further information on this lot please visit theCondition Report: General surface scratches and wear, consistent with age and type.First dish: to the interior two points of restoration on the central medallion, with corresponding cracks to the bottom as well, and two smaller spots to the border, to the exterior border extensive areas of colour retouch.Second dish: extensive restored area of approx. 16cm long to the exterior border with a much smaller reflection to the interior just below the metal rim, approx. 4cm long. Another smaller retouch to the exterior below the metal rim, approx. 3cm long.
