Gouache Housed in its original giltwood frame, with handpainted mat under glass Signed lower left “Luks”, bears photocopy of a letter dated ‘July 28 / 70″ from Mrs. George Luks (Mercedes Luks) and notarized in the State of New York, 1972 that states: “To whom it may concern, this small gouache…of two small boats on the East River…is an authentic work by my late husband George B. Luks….I would place the period of the work around 1930…” Exhibited: Greenville County Museum of Art, South Carolina, “American Realist and Impressionist Paintings from the Collection of Mr. & Mrs. Haig Tashjain”, March 10-April 22, 1984 (bears exhibition label on verso) SIZE: 8-1/2″ x 12″. Overall: 17″ x 19-1/2″. CONDITION: Gouache appears to be in very good condition with tiny paper fragment upper right. 52125-2 (5,000-8,000)
