Mid 19th century, New England. The rectangular box with hinged lid and spool handle wrapped in fishing line at the end of which is tied the key to the box. Painted in red with cream borders on the lid. Additionally squiggle decorated. The lid opening to an interior filled with wooden mallets, fids, augers, a leather and brass sail maker’s thimble glove together with three steel needles and a razor with rough hewn handle. SIZE: 6-1/2″ h x 15″ l x 8-1/2″ d. CONDITION: Painted surface with normal and expected in-use wear and abrasion. Otherwise structurally intact. Tools are well worn with fine patina. 52003-13 (600-800)
