This iconic early map of the “New Netherlands” show a nice view of tiny New York City labeled as “NIEUW YORCK…NIEUW AMSTERDAM…MANHATTANS”. This famous map has been highly reproduced but this is an original. The first imprint edition of 1651 did not name New York, but only New Amsterdam.
