The couple were patrons of the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, and the University of Chicago's Smart Museum of Art. They are the namesake of the Art Institute's Alsdorf Galleries for Indian, Himalayan, and Southeast Asian Art, which opened in 2009.Compare with a related pale green and russet jade carving of a phoenix and young, probably Ming dynasty, which was sold at Bonhams London, 9 November 2017, lot 247.
