A MANDARIN HAT, A SCHOLAR'S PLUME AND A PAIR OF MANDARIN BOOTS 19th century (4)A MANDARIN HAT, A SCHOLAR'S PLUME AND A PAIR OF MANDARIN BOOTS19th century The conical bamboo-weave summer travelling hat mounted with red-dyed horse hair issuing from a translucent blue glass finial for a third-rank official, with a tubular green and mushroom jade plume holder; together with a mandarin's single-eyed peacock feather plume with its original yellow-silk wrapping bearing the name of the shop stamped in red; and a pair of black satin Mandarin's boots piped in black and green-tinted leather above thick soles of layers of stitched cotton and leather bottoms, lined in cotton. The label stamped in red on the original silk wrapping reads 'Jing du Zheng', one of the several shops supplying Mandarin wear in the proximity of the Forbidden City.
