SIX KOZUKA (KNIFE HANDLES) Edo period (1615-1868), 18th to 19th century (12)SIX KOZUKA (KNIFE HANDLES)Edo period (1615-1868), 18th to 19th centuryThe first gold with silver and shakudo on the front and silver on the reverse, on the front Yoshitsune in disguise, on the reverse Benkei carrying seven weapons on his back; the second silver chiselled in katakiribori on one side with Shoki the Demon-Queller and on the other with Emperor Genso and his concubine Yokihi, with signature Somin and a kao; the third shibuichi, shakudo, and gold, with the Uji Bridge on one side and a willow tree on the other; the fourth shibuichi, silver, and shakudo, with a bridge post in swirling water, signed, probably by a follower of Asama Tenmin, with a kao; the fifth iron and gold, with Mount Fuji and a dragon, with signature Kiyo Sanjin Ryuunken Jakushi; the last shibuichi with Jurojin sleeping with his stag companion, signed for the design Yuga ga (painted by Yuga [Nemoto Narimasa, 1824-1866]) and for the metalwork Jokatsusai Hoichi (Chinju, Haynes 00306) with a kao; each with a plain wood storage box.
