12th-9th century B.C. A group of two Late Bronze Age bronze artefacts,prising: an awl or chisel with rectangular-section head and lentoid-section upper body, tapering to a point at one end, convex edge to the other; a tanged chisel or leather-working tool with triangular head and tapering square-section body. 7.71 grams total, 38-41 mm (1 1/2 - 1 5/8 in.) Found whilst searching with a metal detector, Isle of Wight, UK, on 27 March 2017 and 5 April 2016. Recorded by Isle of Wight Portable Antiquities Scheme Liaison Officer with reference numbers SZ 39473, 39607 and BNG 87373, 87125. The awl recorded with the Portable Antiquities Scheme (PAS) with record number IOW-963C9A, and apanied by a copy of the PAS report. The chisel recorded with the Portable Antiquities Scheme (PAS) with record number IOW-C695CB, and apanied by a copy of the PAS report. The awl is dated by the Portable Antiquities Scheme to 'exactly 1000 BC-801 BC'; the chisel is dated ' BC'. [2, No Reserve]Condition Report: Fine condition.
