**SPECIAL BIDDING ARRANGEMENTS**LARGE QIANJIANGCAI ENAMELED VASECHENG MEN (1833-1908), DATED 1882of baluster square-form with twin Buddist lion mask handles in lapis-blue, finely painted with a figure on a donkey beside verdant mountains, the reverse with two cranes perched in a pine tree, bears inscription 'Walking alone on the back of a donkey, the cloud and green mountains approaching nearer, made by Xuělì Chéngmén, in the 9th month, autumn of the year ren-wu (1882)'46cm highPROVENANCE: Private West Country Collection, inherited from the owners Grandfather in the early 1980's.NOTE: Cheng Men was a porcelain painting master active during the late Qing dynasty. He practiced in the qianjiang enamelling style, which is characterised by its use of a restrained palette in pale washes, giving the porcelains painted in this style the look of watercolours.
