ALBERTO GIRONELLA (Mexico City, 1929 - 1999)."Allegory of Goya", 1975.Watercolour on paper.Signed and dated in the central area.Size: 38 x 58 cm.In this work Alberto Gironella revisits one of the masters of painting. Starting from the work of Goya, especially from the series of disasters and inspired by the black paintings, he configures this image which has much of the imagination of the artist from Fuendetodos, but to which Gironella contributes his particular stroke and aesthetics. One of the main exponents of the Generación de la Ruptura, Alberto Gironella held his first exhibition in 1952, beginning an exhibition career that would lead him to show his work in museums and galleries in the United States, Brazil, Spain, Germany, Argentina, France, Switzerland, Japan and Sweden. In Mexico he held exhibitions at the Palacio de Bellas Artes and the museums of Modern Art, Nacional de Arte, Carrillo Gil and Rufino Tamayo. In 1960 he won the first prize of the Union Méditerranéenne d'Art at the Biennale des Jeunes held in Paris, and later won first prize at the VI Biennale de São Paulo. In 1984 a retrospective exhibition was devoted to him at the Museo Tamayo in Mexico City. He is currently represented in the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, the Claudio Jiménez Vizcarra in Mexico and many other public and private collections. ---------------------以下为软件翻译,仅供参考---------------------
