A Meissen ewer and basin, circa 1745A Meissen ewer and basin, circa 1745Both moulded with a basketwork ground, the helmet-shaped ewer applied with a scroll handle and moulded with shell-shaped and foliate base on a flared foot, the rims with gilt dash borders, reserved with gilt- and brown-edged quatrelobe panels painted with elegant figures in river landscape scenes, the basin: 29.8cm long; the ewer: 19.8cm high, crossed swords marks in underglaze-blue, impressed numeral 25 to basin (tiny chips to ewer footrim) (2)Provenance:The Property of a Lady, Christie's London, 29th November 1973, lot 126A similar ewer and basin was in the Baron von Born Collection, Budapest, sold by Rudolph Lepke's Kunst-Auctions-Haus, Berlin, 4 December 1929, lot 166.
