Cartier would go on to manage the company, and later his three grandsons, Louis, Pierre and Jacques, who would make the Cartier brand world renowned. In 1904 Louis Cartier designed a wristwatch for his friend the Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont called "Santos".
