MONTEGRAPPA FOUNTAIN PEN, BIBLIOTHECA ALEXANDRINA LIMITED EDITION. Barrel in blue resin and sterling silver. Nib M in 18 kts gold. Cartridge loading, screw cap. Limited edition of 331. No box. Measurements: 14 cm. length; 15 mm. diameter. This special edition was created to honour the construction of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, a recreation of the world s first universal library, built in 331 BC and lost in antiquity. The octagonal sterling silver nib is engraved with the name of the library in Latin and Arabic. The medium-sized nib is made of 18 carat rhodium-plated two-tone gold. In 1912 Montegrappa produced writing instruments on the banks of the river Brenta. Originally known by the name of Elmo, it was nurtured by the talent of a group of local artists who worked to produce objects crafted with the utmost meticulousness, style and mastery, always aiming for excellence. In 1930, in the midst of a golden period for Italian fashion, the Montegrappa firm was definitively born, standing out for the elegance of its products. The house found a wide public to which to sell its designs, always with a simple but elegant style, personalised with a varied choice of colours and materials. In 2001, Montegrappa was acquired by the Richemont Group, one of the world s leading luxury goods manufacturers. In the period that followed, 2001/2005, the brand initially operated under the signature of Cartier, before being taken over by Montblanc. In 2019, the Aquila family acquired Montegrappa.
