Il poursuit son apprentissage auprès d'Antonio Porcelli, spécialisé dans les peintures sur verre et il se consacre en même temps à l'étude de l'œuvre du Guerchin. C'est en 1781 qu'il s'installe à Rome grâce à une subvention et il y travaille sous la direction de Domenico Corvi et Pompeo Battoni. Il obtient le succès rapidement et devient membre de l'Accademia di San Luca. Ses tableaux les plus importants resteront "Diomède et Ulysse emportant le Palladium", "Le Mariage d'Abraham et de Sarah" ainsi qu'une Déposition de la Vierge conservée au Duomo de Plaisance.Neo-classical Italian painter born in Plaisance but mainly active in Rome, Landi was entrusted by his uncle to Bandini, a Parmesan painter.
