玳瑁釉是极富有禅意的一种，正合禅宗「无所矫饰，浑然天成」的境界。其色形似玳瑁，其工艺为先施含铁较高的釉料，然后随意甩洒较浅色釉料，两种色釉入窑烧制过程中幻化融合，形成千变万化的色斑，不可为妙也。 本品侈口，斜壁，内底平。底承假圈足，足心浅挖。内外施黑釉，盏外施黑釉至近足部，圈足露胎，胎色米黄。故宫博物馆藏一例玳瑁釉盏，载于《故宫博物院藏文物珍品全集》，香港，1996年，页255，图版233，可兹比较。
