7th-6th century B.C. The majority of a ceramic pillow-shaped tablet bearing cuneiform text to one face and side. 206 grams, 89 mm (3 1/2 in.). Acquired before 1990. From a private London, UK, collection. With Ancient Art, London N14, UK. Apanied by an Ancient Art certificate of authenticity including provenance. Emerging in ancient Mesopotamia, cuneiform was one of the earliest forms of writing. Babylonian society has aplex social structure with a need to generate records.
