A heavy elliptical painted wooden shield with integral 'handle' at top, carved with figurative human faces, some emerging when the shield is rotated, some merging with animal forms including butterflies (or moths) and birds, creating animal-human hybrids; headdresses decorated with pellet and wave motifs; probably from the Sepik River area. 11.5 kg, 154 cm (60 in.).
