9th-7th century B.C. A small bronze spearhead with ovate blade, strong midrib and socketted shaft with fastening holes. See similar typology in Khorasani, M.M., Arms and Armour from Iran - The Bronze Age to the End of the Qajar Period, Tübingen, 2006, p.632, cat.284; see also Negahban, E., Weapons from Marlik, Berlin, 1995, pl.X, nos.129-130. 101 grams, 31 cm (12 1/4 in.). Ex Abelita family collection, 1980-2015. Excavated examples from Amlash with the same blade shape and long shaft were published by Dr. Negahban. Moorey stated that sockets as long, if not longer than the blade, were a characteristic of West Iranian spearheads in the late 2nd and early 1st millennium BC. A similar spear head from the Tappeh Sialk was dated to 9th-7th century BC.
