3rd-2nd millennium B.C. A leaf-shaped blade with convex edges, raised midrib, facetted neck and tapering, rectangular-section tang. Cf. Gernez, G., Larmament en métal au Proche et Moyen-Orient: des origines a 1750 av. J.C., Paris, 2007, , subtype L 2.C.c or L2.C.d, for the type. 257 grams, 28.5 cm (11 1/4 in.). Acquired before 1972. Formerly with a central London gallery. Property of a London gentleman. The category includes slender weapons which featured an angular, pointed, and often narrow blade. The middle part underneath the shoulders is quite elongated, of polygonal-section and the tang ends in a double point bevel. This subtype is quite homogeneous, and the most notable differences concern the dimensions, with small points corresponding to javelins while the longest and most massive examples are probably spears.
