Description
Translation provided by Youdao
Circa 25th century B.C. A bronze flat-section dagger blade with flanges to rear, widened handle, false guard and short grip with flared finial. See Gernez, G., Larmament en métal au Proche et Moyen-Orient: des origines a 1750 av. J.C., Paris, 2007, , lett.P.9.C, for the type. 152 grams, 41 cm (16 in.). Abelita family collection, 1980-2015. According to Gernez, most of these daggerse from Susa. A clear context is the Vase à la Cachette (2500-2400 BC) from Susa. This context partly explains the ineffective aspect of these daggers, probably intended for votive use. Another specimen, of the same date, was found at Shahdad (tomb 288).
