12th century A.D. Two halves of a bronze lock formed as a standing lion, stylised detailing to the oval face, pricked ears and grinning mouth; chest and rear cavity open for key insert. 83.9 grams total, 63 mm each (2 1/2 in.). Acquired 1960s-1970s. Kept in the UK since 1981. [2]
