生於中國上海。就讀於上海美專西畫系，因成績優異受教授倪貽德、劉海粟的賞識。1945年赴法國里昂美術學院攻讀油畫，1950年在任微音創辦之「東方畫室」執教。曾獲全國美展等多項大型美展獎項並至各處參展。1989年加入上海市美術家協會。作品並於新加坡、香港、臺北等地的藝術機構展出，出版品有《張自正畫集》。
