Bronze with traces of Pujas Nepal , 17th century Dimensions: Height 24 cm Wide 22 cm Depth 4 cm without base Weight: 4249 grams Square piece showing a scene of the future Buddha Maitreya with disciples, adorants and angels. The frame is made of the braided bodies of seven snakes, whose heads are lined up on the top of the frame. The scene shows Buddha Maitreaya seated on a throne on a double reverse lotus base on a pole supported by two disciples. He is showing the dharmachakra mudra, his head enframed by an aureole. On the bottom we see two standing disciples next to smaller pair, kneeling and sitting on thrones. Above them we see four more Buddhas standing on double reverse lotus bases holding attributes like lotus buds. Floating in the air are two apsaras playing harps.
