A RARE JAPANESE MATSUGATANI-TYPE DISH EDO PERIOD, 17TH CENTURY The moulded body decorated with a laurel-green and brown glaze, the mottling resembling turtle shell patterns; raised on a short oval foot; with a kintsugi gold lacquer repair to the rim and another to the footrim, 15.7cm. Provenance: from the collection of Dr Oliver Impey (1936-2005), and Dr Jane (Mellanby) Impey (1938-2021), of Cumnor Place, Oxford.
