JACK MERRIOT (1901-1968) TWO ARCHITECTURAL STUDIES watercolours on paper, including 'St Augustine's Ruins Canterbury', 23.5cm high x 33cm wide, and an unnamed view of a church, 28cm high x 35cm wide, both signed (2) Jack Merriot (1901-1968) is a renowned painter, illustrator and poster designer. He studied at both Croyden and St Martins School of Art. He was a member, and the first president, of the Wapping Group of Artists. He exhibited at the RA and his work is now held by several world famous galleries. His works for The British Railways and The General Post Office are instantly recognizable; including the scenes from Cornwall, where he spent his later years.
