Description Native American Plains polychrome painted parfleche bag, buffalo rawhide envelope pouch with thonged flaps having red, green, blue, and yellow geometric designs possibly symbolizing landscape features. Also includes a certificate of authenticity from the Mark Sublette Medicine Man Gallery. 25 1/4" H x 11 3/4" W. Circa 1900. Note: Parfleche bags were traditionally made in pairs and hung from saddles for transportation of household tools or foodstuffs.
