Description
Translation provided by Youdao
Antique Japanese woodcut in colors depicting three women (probably Geishas) wearing junihitoe robes and hikimayu eyebrow paint, one woman atop a boat, a landscape with Mount Fuji in the background, signed lower left, Nancy Wu Fine Art label to verso, housed under OP-2 Plex in a gilt wood frame. Image: 14" H x 9" W; frame: 21" H x 16" W. Note: The practice of painted eyebrows and smudging above them on the forehead is called hikimayu. This practice was banned just after the Edo Period in 1870. It is likely that this print dates before then.
