Nahum Tschacbasov (Russian-American, 1899-1994) Surrealist oil on paper painting depicting an abstracted baby pig animal beneath a red sun, signed and dated "1982" lower left and center right, housed under glass in a chrome-tone metal frame. Image: 8.5" H x 11" W; frame: 14.25" H x 17.75" W. Note: Nahum Tschacbasov and Irene Zevon were residents of New York City's famed Chelsea Hotel. Tschacbasov was a member of the Expressionist Art group "The Ten" alongside mark Rothko. He taught at the Art Students League and married Zevon, a former student of his. All works by both artists in this sale were acquired from the estate of Tschacbasov's son.
