绿松石异兽以绿松石整雕成器，色粉绿间错阴处浅褐，明暗有度。异兽卧地，四肢自然收于身下，头向右侧，张口可见利齿，阔鼻高眉间琢深邃双目，双耳紧贴头部，看似训静却有不怒自威之态。兽身以圆刻立雕配以镂空线刻的技法，多层次塑造，方见工匠技艺纯熟。绿松石在历史中多被权贵垄断，异兽更是权力的象征。该品为把件形制，精巧非常，玉化感强，古韵悠然，具有汉代风格。
