Gilt silver. The top of the circular base embellished with chased shells and bouquets of fruit. The conical body with a mythological depiction in high relief: a portrait of Minerva (Pallas Athene) and Mars, one on each side, framed with a laurel wreath. The front with a battle scene in relief, presumably a representation of the battle of the Amazons at Troy. Above which a mascaron, flanked by two angels. An engraved coat of arms (a boar's head) at the top edge. The domed, hinged lid with two chased cherubs surrounded by bunches of fruit. A fully sculptured putto knob. The handle in the shape of a stylised sea monster (ketos), bearing a Nereid (nymph) on its back. The thumb rest also in the shape of a Nereid. Illegible hallmark on the handle.
