A group of 5 Japanese lacquered covered boxes, dating from the Meiji period. A round box with trees in bloom in gold lacquer on cover and sides, with textured silk lining inside. Two square black boxes, one larger, with covers that have deep sides. A rectangular shallow red lacquered box with raised Buddha figure on the cover, from a Hindman sale, and a small metal box with hinged cover and raised flower decoration on top and sides.Round box: D. 6" (15.2 cm), Large black square box: H. 3 3/4" (9.5 cm), W. & L. 3 1/2" (8.9 cm), Small metal box: W. 1 3/4" (4.4 cm) L. 2 1/8" (5.4 cm), Buddha lacquer box: W. 2 5/8" (6.6 cm), L. 3 3/8" (8.5 cm)Condition: good condition overall for age and use. Round box has top rim loose.
