Two Japanese cloisonne vases, dating from the Meiji period. The larger vase is narrow, with a small, flared foot and long oval body, tapering to a narrow neck and then a flared mouth. Ornately decorated shield shaped dragon and phoenix designs, against cobalt blue background. Smaller vase has taller flared foot and shorter oval body, with very long thin neck that flares slightly at the mouth. Also against cobalt background and illustrated wit panels of flying creatures.Larger: H. 12 1/4" (31 cm), Smaller: H. 9 3/4" (24.7 cm)Condition: very good overall for age and use, no visible damage.
