A CHINESE CIZHOU WHITE-GLAZED LAMP STAND OR CENSER Northern Song / Jin Dynasty 宋或金 磁州窰白釉燭台或香爐 Potted with a wide circular flange surmounting a columnar body atop a splayed foot, decorated in a clear glaze over white slip that stops short of the foot and interior exposing the buff-coloured body, 7.7cm high, 12cm diameter - PROVENANCE: Property of a French Private Collection formed in Hong Kong during the 1960’s-1980’s 來源: 法國私人收藏,1960-1980年代在香港組成 - c.f. A comparable white-glazed lamp stand dated to the Song Dynasty is in the Ashmolean Museum, from the gift of Gerald Reitlinger, 1978, acc. no. EA1978.1788. A comparable lamp has been illustrated by Regina Krahl in 'Chinese Ceramics from the Meiyintang Collection, Volume 1', 1994, p.261, pl.476. A similar object, described as a censer, is illustrated in the catalogue of the 'Memorial Exhibition of The Charles B.
